Dear Sir;
I am not sure if you can help me or not, or able to channel me to someone who might. Orignally, I am from Portsmouth, N.H. and my great grandfather was a Capt. on the schooner-the Marion, a lumber hauler, carrying lumber out of Alaska to coastal ports in the US and S.America.
My next door neighbor has asked me to see if I could help her with some information. She handed me a what I believe is a whales tooth with an inscription--The Dakota 1860 with a three master on the front of the tooth and a banner- inscribed Nantucket on the reverse side.
I was woundering if anyone around you might have any information on the Dakota that I could pass along to my neighbor.
Thank you for your time and for any information you might be able to render.
Sincerely
George Littlefield
