An estimated 3500 people joined over 150 wineries and chefs from around the world at the 11th Annual Nantucket Wine Festival. The long weekend of tastings, seminars, symposia, screenings, lunches, dinners and galas kicked off Wednesday with a reception at the White Elephant and finished Sunday afternoon with the last of the Grand Tastings at the Nantucket Yacht Club.
If you returned home full and tired, it was all for a good cause: one night’s revelry raised more than $200,000 for the Nantucket Historical Association.
Here’s a taste of what you were up to (or what you wish you’d been up to):
Moet Chandon Champagne and Jim Sulzer’s music flowed for all who attended the Opening Reception.
Chocolate lovers gathered for The Terroir of Chocolate with Caroline Yeh from Boston's Temper Chocolates.
The sold out Seventh Annual Wine Festival Gala welcomed guests with over 30 tables of matched wines and food.
Friday saw the return of a new tradition and the premiere of new film, Harvest: Napa-Sonoma, at the Starlight Theatre.
Great Wine in Grand Homes was the theme of the evening. We were lucky enough to travel from home to home with Festival organizers Denis Toner and Mark Donato.
At the last Grand Tasting, the wine was poured freely and there was still a bounty of food for the sold-out crowd that waited contentedly for the names of the raffle winners to be drawn.
And by 5:00 PM on Sunday it was time to empty the wine glasses and put the bottles under the table until next year. As the crowds left the Nantucket Yacht Club, the sun broke through the clouds for the first time in days and made for a perfect Nantucket evening. Thanks to the Festival organizers, volunteers and sponsors for making the week so special.

The Yacht Club was an awesome venue for the Wine Festival grand tastings. Felt like the old days at Sconset Casino.
