Nantucket Scalloper's Ball 2007

Robert Sulzer

At the 5th Annual Nantucket Scalloper’s Ball, salty fisherman and land-lubbers alike gathered to raise money for the Nantucket Shellfish Association and Sustainable Nantucket.Guests at the event could sample Spanky’s Raw Bar, bid in silent or live auctions, and listen to two local bands: 4 EZ Payments and The Shingles.Christine Silverstein, Executive Director of Sustainable Nantucket, spoke about the non-profit organizations. “The ultimate goal of the Nantucket Shellfish Association is to preserve and protect the habitat of the fishery, the water quality and everything about the health of the water. Scalloping is a wonderful way to live your life and keeps you connected with nature.”The event also served as a retirement ceremony of sorts for Silverstein who has been the Executive Director of Sustainable Nantucket since it’s inception.
