Bristol Plymouth Drops Whalers

Robert Sulzer

09-28-07- On Friday, The Whalers battled Bristol Plymouth Regional Technical High School in their second home game of the season, resulting in a 22-0 loss.

Going into the game, Whalers Head coach Vito Capizzo said, "Bristol Plymouth has always been very competitive, big, and physical. It's head coach Billy Mullins 25th and last year so the kids will be ready to play."

Bristol Plymouth certainly came ready to play, shutting out the whalers offense, converting on long-yardage situations, and stifling the Whalers offense.

As time winded down at the end of the first half, Bristol Plymouth scored their second touchdown of the game, a demoralizing score for the whalers because BP because stretched an eight point lead to 16-0 at the half.

The Whalers were able to hold tough on defense, but gave up crucial yardage in fourth and long situations. The Whalers also failed to control the ball on offense. It was their third game in a row where they had 3 or more turnovers.

This is the third in as many games against Mayflower Large Conference opponents. The Nantucket Whalers Football Team is in the Mayflower Small, but hope that the bigger opponents at the beginning of the season will prepare them for their smaller rivals.
