These two fluke were caught on double hook rig east of the island last week.
Fishing Report: 7/11
The striped bass and bluefishing is still red hot according to Captain Bob DeCosta of Albacore Charters. Lots of big bass are being caught off Great Point and Sankaty. The blues are everywhere from the end of the Jetties all around the island. The shark fishing south of the island has produced a lot of small Makos and big Blue sharks. One Thresher shark over 400 lbs was caught last week!
Next week is the Martha's Vineyard Monster Shark Tournament. Bob will be going over to defend last year’s win. There are over 200 boats fishing the tournament.
The bottom fishing has been great. There are lots of big sea bass and fluke off the east side of the island. The tuna fishing east of the island has slowed in the last week; however, the fish being caught are all over the 100 lb. range. Bob will be making his first canyon trip of the year this weekend. Look for news on that in next week’s report.
Check back every Friday for a new report. –Tee Clarkson
