The Annual Summer Used Book Sale was held this past Saturday and Sunday from 10AM to 4 PM at the Nantucket Atheneum.About 50 volunteers and workers at the Nantucket Atheneum pitched in to help make the book sale happen, including Library Director Molly Anderson who said:“The whole idea is for books to find good homes. We make a little money from it. All proceeds go towards the free services and programs offered by the Nantucket Atheneum as Nantucket’s Public Library.” The Nantucket Atheneum is constantly updating the works it offers. It can only hold 55,000 volumes, so it must be very selective with the works that it keeps. The books, CDs, and DVDs on sale either come right off the shelf or are donated by individuals. Any books that don’t sell will be sent to Better World Books who will send the books to developing countries. This year over 10,000 books are on sale for quite a low price, 2$ for hardbacks and 1$ for paperbacks. So stop by, check out the sale, and support The Nantucket Atheneum.
