The Carnival, sponsored by the VFW on Nantucket, has been offering tasty treats, fun rides and games on Nantucket for the past 35 years. This year, the Carnival will be open every night from July 9th to the 21st and is located at the end of Tom Nevers Road (At the Old Navy Base).Veteran Arnold Patterson, who has been involved organizing the event since its inception said, “When we first started, we barely broke even. When you walk around and see all the smiles on the little kids’ faces, it’s worth all the effort.”The Carnival certainly has something for everybody. There are plenty of fun dizzying rides like the Twister and the Gravitron. You can show off your skills and win a prize for a friend playing squirt guns or darts. There is also delicious food like fried dough, cotton candy, and Italian Sausages.That sounds like a party to me.
