Fashion has gone to the dogs on Nantucket. For one night, man's (and woman's) best friends took to the catwalk, or was it the dogwalk? The Canine Couture Fashion Show, benefitting the Nantucket MSPCA's Adoption Center, showed off their latest styles Wednesday night. The event began at 6:30 while the attendees and dog owners sipped on Muttinis, the MSPCA's spin on martinis, waiting for the fashion and couture to begin.
The show had 29 pre-registered pooches ready to strut their stuff on the runway for the over 250 guests. Jessica Sosebee, one of our Plum 98 nominees, is the manager for the adoption center. Currently the center has 100 animals up for adoption, a first in the history of Nantucket's MSPCA as far a she knows. "We're going to do this every year," she said about the successful event, "We hope is continues to grow."
All of the contestants were matched up with auction items, and many of the pets' costumes were coordinated with the items. Check out our slideshow below for some of fashionable furry friends. Some of the auction items included two tickets at Fenway's Green Monster, a stay for two at a cottage in Dionis, and many more.
The winner of last night's event was Clovis, who donned Sankaty Light to take the winning title for the Canine Couture Fashion Show.
