As we leap out of Febraury into March, we're focused on bringing you what's happening on the island in a brand new episode of This Week on Nantucket. From the dophins out in Madaket to Lady Whaler Angela Paterson's 1000th point, there's plenty to be talking about all week long.
NHS girls' basketball stand-out Angela Paterson made her 1,000th career point with a good ole' lay-up (and drew the foul). A crowded gymnasium celebrated Paterson's milestone and cheered on the Whaler team to another play-off victory.
William
Goodrich built an organ for the Unitarian Church on Nantucket in 1831 and today it remains the oldest functioning organ built in the United States. Unitarian Church members, Susan Jarrell, Ted
Anderson, and Marcia Hempel spoke about the history of this one of a
kind organ.
Dennis Dreher and Eric Schultz take us behind the scenes Theatre Workshop of Nantucket's production of
"Doubt" . See what it takes to produce the lighting and stage design.
On an environmentally conscious note, two common dolphins become stranded in a Madaket creek this February and both the Nantucket Marine Mammal Stranding Team and the Cape Cod Stranding Team responded to the situation. Luckily, the teams were able to help one of the dolphins make its way back out to sea.
12 Orange Street is looking great, and we are continuing to check in with their team. Michael Molinar took a peek at the progress of the renovations. This time Dave Caplice, the general contractor for Garrison Square Management, shows Michael just how far they have come in these past 18 weeks.
Plum host Kate Brosnan sat down with Richard Brannigan, the representative at large for the Community Preservation Committee, to discuss some of their plans that will be up for debate at this year's Town Meeting, among other things.
We also brought you another Plum 98'er with Fire Chief Mark McDougall. Check it out as Plum celebrates the NFD chief for his contributions to the community. Mark says the way he’s given back to the island is through his 18-year dedication to the fire department.
Style Guy Michael Molinar is ready to show us how to travel in style, and in this week's Style with Michael, he gives us some tips about how to pack smart when you travel.
Finally, don't miss this week's MSPCA Adoption Option with Flash, a beautiful brown and white cat looking for a happy and loving home.
This Week on Nantucket airs every day at 8am, 3pm, and 7pm, with a new episode every Friday night at 7pm, only on Channel 22.
