Last night, Bob and I went to Black Eyed Susan’s, a charming bistro with low prices (for Nantucket), cash only and bring your own alcoholic beverage policies. We shared an unadvertised special appetizer of halibut tacos, enhanced with pureed avocado, corn salsa, onion and lime juice. Quite delicious!
This was followed by a very well executed weiner schnitzel (made with pork, not veal), served with potato salad, arugula and beure blanc with capers. Very, very tasty! We were too stuffed for dessert. This will probably still be on the menu until late June according to our server. Definitely worth getting.
They have some unusual rules about reservations, (only reserving for the 6:00 seating, after that you wait), so eat early or wait in line. Of course, early in the season and early in the week it is easier to get seated when you want.
This restaurant always has only a few thoughtfully chosen appetizers, pastas and entrees. But we have never been disappointed by the food. Tables are close together and the noise level can be daunting during the season. We have never gone to their breakfast, which looks to be scrumptious. Perhaps this year we just might make it.
