Coach Lori Moran has been impressed with her squad all season and describes her team as, "17 girls working towards one goal, taking on any role it was to benefit the team. [The team was led] by seniors that began preparing for their season in July when over a dozen members of the team went to a team camp and continued twice a week throughout the summer in pick up games, practicing into the night without a whisper of a complaint even when Sundays also became part of their practice week." The Field Hockey team made it to the second round of the playoffs and ended with one of the best records in school history.

Grace-Anne Tornovish of the Nantucket Whalers Field Hockey team drives the ball against Marshfield.
Senior captain and midfielder Grace-Anne Tornovish is this week's Nantucket Nectars Student-Athlete of the week for her dedication on and off the field.
Nantucket High School Varsity Field Hockey coach Lori Moran has high praise for Grace-Anne's work ethic.
"Grace-Anne’s dedication is unmatched as she has yet to miss a practice, including the double sessions held in August and it has shown in her play on the field. Grace-Anne is responsible for patrolling the mid-field and in taking 75% of our free hits. Her offensive strength is one of the reasons our shots on goal have tripled since last year and why our goals scored in just 9 games is equal to our totals from 2008."
