Nantucket Whalers vs. Tri County

Despite the momentum of three straight wins behind them, the Whalers were harpooned by the Vineyarders 48-6 at The Island Cup on Nov 17.

Students at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School certainly had a lot to say about their island rival. Check out the video of the Vineyard students.

On a brisk autumn day the Nantucket Whalers Football team out-ran the Diman Bengals en-route to a 14-6 win on November 10.

With three seconds remaining in the game against Tri-County, the Nantucket Whalers Football team capped off a 70-yard drive with a touchdown pass to beat their opponents 13-12.

Amidst the rain and mud, the Nantucket Whalers Football team used key defensive stops and a skilled passing attack to pull out their first win of the season against the Old Colony Cougars on Saturday, October 27.

Island Cup: The Trophy

On Saturday November 17, the Nantucket Whalers battled their rival the Martha's Vineyard Vineyarders in the 30th Annual Island Cup, losing 48-6.

Every year, it becomes harder and harder for the Whalers to compete with MVRHS, a school almost three times the size of Nantucket High School. With three fantastic wins in a row behind them, the Whalers hoped to have enough momentum and Whaler Pride to bring back the Island Cup once and for all. Unfortunately, despite the good weather, the sun was not shining Nantucket Whalers during the game. The Vineyarders kept the Whalers off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter, resulting in a final score of 48-6.

Martha’s Vineyard now holds the Island Cup strong in their possession for half a decade.
